2021 earth day action challenge

As we approach the 1.5 degree danger line for global warming, it is so important for us to be mindful of our impact on the planet and its people throughout everything we do. Thinking about the food that we eat is a great place to start! Meat and dairy production is connected to deforestation, greenhouse gas emissions, air and water pollution, ocean dead zones, and many other issues for the earth and those who inhabit it so reducing our consumption of animal products can have more of an impact than some may think. During this challenge, I hope to encourage people to commit to reducing their consumption of meat and dairy products not with a strict path to a vegetarian or vegan diet but rather a shift towards being more mindful of the impact we have on the planet with our food choices.

The challenge is broken down into three parts: create, take action, and commit. Participants will begin with an overview of the 1.5 degree line for global warming and work on a creative piece that explores an effect of climate change. You will then continue with the impact of meat and dairy production on the planet and make a plan with ways you can incorporate more plant-based foods into your meals. The challenge concludes with making a commitment to continue to think about your plan beyond just these few days no matter how big or small your changes are!
